The Holiday Table, Two Ways
By Jordan Zarcone, Director of Sales, Rally + Henrietta's
There's something about the holidays that brings people back to the table.
Maybe it's the feeling of a beautifully set table, dishes passed around, and conversation that lingers longer than usual. Maybe it's the food. Maybe it's just having everyone in the same room at the same time.
We don't think every holiday table has to look the same. Sometimes it's candles, glassware, and a beautifully plated dinner. Sometimes it's a cocktail table surrounded by friends after a pickleball match. Sometimes it's a buffet everyone keeps circling back to between games.
The table doesn't have to be standard. It just has to bring people together.
This holiday season, Rally and Henrietta's offer two distinct ways to gather in Charlotte, and both earn a place at the table.
Rally: A Charlotte Holiday Party With a Little Competition
At Rally, the holiday table starts with movement.
Picture a Rally Scramble winding down. Paddles are put away, drinks circulate the room, and teammates gather around a spread of food to relive the best (and most questionable) points of the night.
Here, the table is part of the experience, not the entire experience. Our holiday menus are built for sharing:
The Merry Matchpoint: brie cranberry bites, peppermint bark, and other seasonal favorites
The Fireside Feast: braised short rib, bourbon-poached pear, and a spread built for the season
Add spiked cider, holiday sangria pitchers, or a build-your-own hot chocolate bar, and the traditional holiday dinner takes on a new shape entirely.
Your "table" might be a courtside lounge. It might be a row of cocktail tables ringing the court. It might be a buffet people keep returning to for one more bite. At Rally, we care less about where people sit and more about how they gather.
Henrietta's: Private Dining for Your Charlotte Holiday Event
Next door, Henrietta's offers a different kind of holiday gathering, one where the pace slows down.
The table is set with intention: seasonal dishes, candles, glassware, and the kind of details that turn a dinner into an occasion. It's where guests settle in, pour another glass of wine, and keep talking long after the plates clear.
Henrietta's suits the holiday dinner that calls for a little more care: a client dinner, a leadership gathering, an intimate team celebration, or an end-of-year dinner for the people who made the year happen.
Even here, the table can take different shapes. A long communal table builds a different energy than smaller ones. A private dining room makes a gathering feel intimate. A cocktail-style setup gets guests moving and talking. How you set the table sets the tone for the whole event.
Setting the Table Is About More Than the Table
When we help clients plan holiday events, the conversation goes well beyond menus and seating charts. We think about how guests will arrive, where they'll grab their first drink, where they'll gather, and what gets them moving around the room. We think about where conversation happens naturally, and what brings everyone back together by the end of the night.
The best holiday events aren't the ones with the most elaborate decor or the most formal service. They're the ones where people stay a little longer: where coworkers who usually only talk deadlines end up laughing together, where clients feel welcomed instead of simply hosted, and where everyone leaves with a memory instead of another event on the calendar.
That's what the holiday table is really about.
Two Concepts, Two Tables, One Reason to Gather
Rally and Henrietta's were built to offer two distinct ways to celebrate. At Rally, the table might be courtside: paddles, cocktails, holiday bites, and a little friendly competition. At Henrietta's, it might be a beautifully set private dining room with seasonal dishes, wine pairings, and hours of conversation.
Or your season might call for both: a team celebration on the court, a client dinner around the table, one holiday gathering that starts with pickleball and ends next door over dinner.
There's no single way to set the holiday table. The best one is whichever brings your people together.
